Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 (CAS 68-19-9), also known as cobalamin, is a vitamin that helps keep many areas of the body working properly. Areas like the brain and nervous system, are dependent on this nutrient, that helps produce blood and regulate DNA. Deficiencies in Vitamin B12, can lead to improper functions that can increase to more serious problems affecting the brain, and nerve damage.

Vitamin B12, is used to help those experiencing abnormalities in the mental and physical state of the body, and in some cases, cyanide poisoning. Symptoms of Vitamin B12 deficiency can include fatigue, loss of appetite, confusion, depression, numbness, and tingling in hands and feet. Megaloblastic anemia, a reduction of oxygen carried to the body's tissues because of larger and fewer immature red blood cells, can be caused by a lack of Vitamin B12.

The vitamin can be used to find and prevent another form of anemia, pernicious anemia. When vitamin B12 is detached from proteins in the food we eat, by the acid in the stomach, the nutrient then can be absorbed after fusing with the intrinsic factor, a stomach-made protein. Those who are unable to create intrinsic factor, have problems absorbing the vitamin. Testing vitamin levels is the first step to the prevention of disorders associated with deficiency.

Having high vitamin B12, can be just as detrimental as being deficient. Those who take in high quantities of foods that are rich in the nutrient such as meat, fish, dairy, and eggs, can have high levels. Others who have taken on a vegetarian, or vegan diet, tend to have low levels of the vitamin. One should be tested in these situations, or if enduring any of the various symptoms. Vitamin B12 shots may be administered, and there are nutrient supplements that can be taken to balance the levels, and ultimately better the state of the body.

As such IsoSciences offers an unlabeled form and is currently developing isotope labeled vitamin B12. If you wish to discuss purchase of this molecule, please contact us by email or phone (610-337-3762) we will be more than happy to provide assistance.
